I don’t think I ever want to be a mom that says ‘no’ too much.
My 6 year old told me last week that it was the one thing i tell him the most. ( i was hoping it was ‘i love you’ , but apparently not)

The world we live in, unfortunately, is extreamely judgemental, and as much as I would like to shield my kids from the monster that it is, they will eventually have to face it, an in all probability, on their own. I try to teach them the importance of not judging, the importance of not looking into your neighbour’s plate to see if you have more than them, but to make sure that they have enough. The importance of accepting that we as a family maybe different from others in his class, but that does make us better or less important than them.

Though ofcourse i cannot tell them that others will not judge; and, as much as i’d like to, stop them from judging me and my own. What I Can do, and will continue to is to teach the troop to be kind. As much as it is important for us to be kind to others, it is also important to face judgement and criticism with kindness. To not shout or rant, or complain or be upset, but to understand that their opinions are their own and it is not important or necessary to impose ours on them or to adopt theirs into our lives. Ofcourse it is a long hard difficult continuous struggle for a 6 year old boy today, as much as it is for his mom, but it is a lesson I need to remind him and myself every day.

In the Spirit of free expression and trying different things without fear of judgement or repraoch, I let tigger go out and choose his haircut! With the national day of UAE coming up the salon had a special where they applied temporary coloured hair spray in the flag colors. Think i might have given Mr. A a heart attack when i send him that picture of tigger with his new ‘do’.
I thought it was amazing that Tigger wanted to try new things. Ofcourse he wasnt so fond of the oil i had to rub vigorously in his hair to get the said color out, but thats a story for another day.

Until that story today.

We wanted to play games that were fun and funny. We had people who were my sister’s school friends, cousins and other friends.

We started the games with the classic, guess how big the tummy is.

IST_7131

We then had, guess the chocolate bar in the diaper game which was, i’ll admit, slightly disgusting but seriously hilarious.

IST_7159

We also had a game of who can finish the baby bottle the quickest which was filled apple juice.

IST_7084

Dress up thebaby relay with a lot of mommies and to-be mommies.

IST_7034

The memory game.

And ended with, pin the baby on the tummy.

We cannot thank the people who came to the event enough for making it the wonderful event it was. But to show out gratitude we had a basket of favours filled with Body Shop gifts which were beautifully wrapped by favors.

Part of the reason why I love having parties in the Royal stables is that there is a ready entertainment for the kids in the form of a lovely park with swings, slides and more.
Almost everyone invited were bringing two kids or more and so we thought it would be lovely to add a few more activities for them.

IST_6591

We had the ever classic face and body painting.

IST_6919

We also had mask making, which the girls especially gravitated towards.

IST_6636

And the highlight of the Royal stables being the pony rides which cheered up even the grumpiest of kids at the party.

IST_6803

Suffice to say the kids had as much fun as the adults at the event if not more.

The event planners Luminous events did an amazing job of setting up the activities for the kids.

When we were looking at the food, we wanted it to be
wholesome, colorful and fun.

IST_6704

We set out a buffet which began with loads of canapés and
other finger food and dips. We also added salads.

IST_6705

For the main course we not only had small portiors of wraps,
grilled chicken, rice and a few curries, but we added fish and chicken finger
with chips for the kids as well.

IST_6908 IST_6911

We had a few Arabic dishes like skewars and kebabs as well.

IST_6914

Our dessert table was extensive with macaroons, trifles,
cheese cakes, eclairs and more in individual portions. The highlight of the
dessert table was the beautiful croquem boche that you can see only a part of
the pictures.

IST_6711

My favouratie where these heavenly mini chocolate cakes with
the tiny bee on them. They were super cute.

IST_6710

And finally the cake that was cut. We didnt want an ostentatious one, but still it had to be sweet and to theme. The caterers did an amazing job of it as well. We were super happy.

We went all out on the decoration. We had everything from a large red riding hood themed signage.

IST_6520

Gorgeous white chairs with bright red tie backs, and red table clothes with picnic style table runners. Red and teal lanterns and paper fans hanging down from the trees. And a grandma’s house that you can sort of see in the background.

IST_6549

Centrepieces that looked like tree stumps with white twigs that had crystals hung on them, and the red riding hood and the carriage leaning on it.

IST_6863

A Photo background where people could take selfies or fun pictures.

IST_6532

And finally a sweet table with the red riding hood and the carriage making an appearance on the teal background with color themed dessert.

IST_6538

The weather, the sunshine, and the amazing people that came made the day all the more special.

To people who don’t have sisters, sometimes its hard to explain what having a sister is like. Suffice to say i think that most times, it is THE BEST. And I should know, I have two.
My little sister is expecting her second baby soon and my big sister and I decided to throw her a baby shower.
If you didn’t already know, i LOVE planning parties. We were hard pressed to find a theme that would be feminine, but sort of fun too. My big sister picked teal and red as the colors, and as soon as i saw red, i thought it would be amazing to have a Red Riding Hood or to adapt it to the baby shower, Red Riding Carriage Theme.
This is a 5 part series. This is the invitation that we send out last week for the party. We loved how amazing the card turned out.
I am so excited about this series.
